Backend Developer · Technical Lead
13+ years architecting systems that scale — from billing infrastructure to team leadership.
Backend Developer and Technical Lead specializing in RESTful & SOAP APIs, billing systems, and GDPR compliance. Primary stack: PHP — but the engineering principles travel with me.
01 — About
I'm a PHP Backend Developer and Technical Lead based in Mexicali, México, with 13+ years of hands-on experience architecting, building, and scaling production web applications — including billing platforms that process millions of mobile payment transactions per month across LATAM.
At Gameloft, I led backend development for carrier billing and subscription platforms serving 10+ regional partners across Mexico, Central America, and South America. I designed RESTful and SOAP API integrations with mobile operators like Telcel MX and Claro, engineered a UUID-based PII anonymization system adopted company-wide, and was selected as one of two studio representatives for a global on-site in Bucharest to influence architecture decisions.
I've also led and mentored teams: defining technical scope, running code reviews, and training 5 cohorts of university students — several of whom I hired and later saw promoted to senior roles.
My surname — Buzo — means diver in Spanish. I like to think it captures something true: I go deep into problems, stay focused under pressure, and surface with something worth keeping.
02 — Experience
Leading backend development for large-scale game infrastructure. Managing a team of 5 engineers, defining technical direction, and ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple simultaneous projects. Operating within a CI/CD pipeline environment managed by a dedicated DevOps team.
Passionate about automation and actively learning through personal projects — experimenting with lead generation pipelines, Telegram bots, AI-driven SEO sites, and self-hosted Docker infrastructure. Every project is a hands-on way to explore new tools and ideas.
